Informatics in a new and growing discipline in human-computer interactions. Millions of people in the world communicate with each other and use apps and online tools such as Facebook, Twitter, PayPal, and EBay to perform daily tasks. However, regulation and guidelines are developing after these tools have been in use for months, if not years. One such example is the right of Google to use content of our emails and web browsing history to sell personal information to marketers. Another example is the recent riots in Libya and Egypt in reaction to an anti-Muslim video posted on You Tube.

In 500 - 1000 words, please describe the role that ethics plays for an Informatics major, including how you expect Trinity Lutheran College to help prepare a graduate to answer these murky questions of ethical behavior in the digital world.
