Jackie Afualo loves golf. Not only is she on Trinity's inaugural golf team, she's also completing her Service Learning Practicum (SLP) on a golf course with children and youth.
The organization, First Tee, integrates the game of golf with educational programs that build character, life-enhancing values, and promoting healthy choices.
Afualo enjoys getting to show others her passion for the sport.
"I've learned that golf is a great way to teach life lessons," Afualo said.
She points to the Service Learning Practicum course as important in helping her explore future career goals.
"Without this class, I would have never realized that teaching golf could be an actual career,” she said.
Service Learning Practicum (SLP) provides students with the opportunity to volunteer within a community organization, such as teaching in a preschool, tutoring youth, working with a local nonprofit, serving meals in a shelter, leading youth Bible studies, and more. One year of SLP is required of all students as part of the Trinity Crux Curriculum.
