Trinity is pleased to announce that David Francis (’85) is returning to his alma mater to deliver the commencement address this May.
Francis graduated from Trinity with a B.S. in Biblical Studies. He also holds an MBA and a Graduate certificate in e-Commerce from the University of Phoenix and is currently Marketing Manager/Retail Industry Consultant at United Parcel Service (UPS) He has been married to alumna Heidi (Smith) Francis for 30 years and has two children.
Francis’s commencement address to Trinity’s class of 2014 will review the current business environment awaiting the graduates and link that to the biblical model of God preparing Moses through education and experience for his role as a leader.
Since graduating from Trinity, Francis has focused his life and work on his vocation of ministry including youth work, mentoring and mission trips, and on his 25-year career with United Parcel Service. He has held positions in Operations, Communications, Public Relations, Industrial Engineering, I.T. Consulting and Sales.
In addition to his work at UPS, Francis and his wife are devoted to helping young people attain their full potential as leaders in ministry and business. Together they are in the process of starting a non-profit advocacy organization called Executive Christian, which will provide free coaching, motivation and best practices for business executives to reach their full potential.
“David is a wonderful example of how Trinity Lutheran College equips its graduates for lives of vocational service as well as professional success. We look forward to the wisdom he will share with our graduates as they head out into their future careers,” said President John Reed.
Trinity’s 70th commencement ceremony will be held at the Historic Everett Theatre on Saturday, May 24 at 10 a.m. Forty-one students will be awarded degrees.
