Trinity Lutheran College junior Kalan Smith was the medalist in the Columbia Basin College Invitational last week.
A three-day tournament from October 6–8, the invitational was held at three different golf courses in the Tri-Cities, Wash. The tournament featured 20 other female players representing Bellevue CC, Spokane CC, Skagit Valley CC, Green River CC, Northern Idaho CC and Columbia Basin CC.
Smith shot rounds of 78, 78, 80 at Horn Rapids, Canyon Lakes and Sun Willows, respectively, for a total of 236.
The runner up was Suchada Anasuriya of Bellevue Community College with a 239.
“This was a fun event, to be able to play at three different courses that each have very different layouts and conditions. It was a good test of golf. I am happy with how I played and our team really enjoyed this trip,“ said Smith.
“Kalan is a smart, veteran player and stayed with her game plan. She represents our new program very well with her ability, her attitude and leadership,” said Jeff Cornish, Trinity head golf coach.
Smith is from Marysville, and is a Business Major at the college.
