Trinity students study abroad: Italy & Greece

January 17, 2013

Eleven Trinity students traveled to Italy and Greece this January Term with Dr. Dave Schulz, professor and chair of Communications, in a study abroad experience that opened their eyes to the history and culture of Europe.

Kayla Kliphardt, a junior majoring in Graphic Design & Visual Communications, said that of all the places the class visited, Pompeii was her favorite.

“We walked around inside and saw up close where gladiators used to fight. We also got to see some bodies that had been killed in a volcano that erupted in 70 A.D. The bodies had been covered in lava, so it looked like sculptures but in some places, you could still see their toe bones or finger bones,” Kliphardt said.

The students also report they have been learning a little bit of Italian and Greek on the side.
